Warbler Project was an electronic music project I had going from roughly October 2023 to September 2024. Its name was derived from the loose rock band I was a part of in high school, The Jolly Warblers. Origins of Warbler Project music can be traced back to 2020 from my attempts at creating a platform fighter video game, but that never came to fruition. Later, right before I graduated from high school in 2023, I had toyed with the concept of making my own music under a name separate from The Jolly Warblers. The first idea I had for a name was Sole Soul Warbler, and I played around with the idea that the other members of the Warblers had "gone away" because of graduation.
Let me set the record straight: apart from a handful of exceptions*, Warbler Project wasn't ever intended to be a serious attempt at making music. It was, in modern lingo, a "shitpost endeavor". It was an exercise to see how much I could get away with just by throwing shit into GarageBand. I wasn't even fully certain that my distributor would let me release Warbler Project's single LP, 3000 the Music. Half of the time poured into "carefully crafting" it was spent laughing my ass off. I'd been writing songs for months beforehand that were legitimate expressions of myself, and once I adopted the Midifuture alias, Warbler Project was instantly discontinued; its largest influence was it causing me to develop a strong affinity for the number 3000, which eventually became the focal point of my company's name. Fun!
*The most notable of those exceptions is "Come Get Your Fill" from 3000 the Music, as its general structure had been floating around in my head for at least 4-5 years before actualizing it. I'm fairly proud of the finished result; it's a simple breakbeat track with synth strings and deep bass. I've heard worse.
Thanks to a few interesting scenarios in my life, Warbler Project is temporarily and chaotically back in session to put out two releases that I'd find funny for people to be able to listen to. After both of those are available, the project will be discontinued again. No more leak in my bed.
