Deadbeat disappointed me quite a bit. It has a collection of interesting ideas, seemingly from throughout the previous Tame Impala albums, but Kevin "Tame Impala" Parker simply took each idea and looped it ad nauseam in each track. It just sounds like slightly-sophisticated club music. It's tightly made, but it's extremely repetitive and lacks that gelatinous energy that Currents, The Slow Rush, and even Lonerism had. The lyric "You're a cinephile, I watch Family Guy" might just be a modern climax of artistic imbuement, though.

It's funny to me that there's a Warbler Project single coming out soon. That idea in and of itself: this thing that I was simply done with, this vessel that was more of a joke than anything else, this silly project; it's back with something that took some sort of effort. It's back with a drunken roar. It's funny to me. I don't know. I think the yet-to-be-announced album/EP/whatever is going to be even funnier, since it'll have even more effort (mostly); it'll be able to (maybe) unify people with its cheesiness. It'll all be a big cascade for something that had practically no impact. That's what funniest to me.
