Alan Wilkis' magnum opus illustrates how to execute modern electronic pop to perfection.

...yikes. That reads like something you'd see in Pitchfork. However, it's really an apt description of why I love Big Data so much. The project brings a feeling of yearning to electronica that I haven't heard replicated by many, if any, other artists.

The first song I heard from Big Data was "Bombs Over Brooklyn", and I was instantly fascinated by it. The theme of human tenacity in the song is inspiring as all get out, and I first became aware of it at a great point in my life. Eventually, I listened to both "Give Me Life" and "Put Me to Work" from 3.0, both of which are fantastic. My favorite track from that album, however, is "Evolution Once Again". It's got that pop-centric aspect while having a heavy "desperation" factor.

It's brilliant stuff, and I hope Mr. Wilkis and company continue to release music under Big Data. I'd like to garner some inspiration from them in my work.
