Like I mentioned on the page for Queens of the Stone Age, I've been steadily teaching myself piano and writing songs since around February 2024. One of the first songs I decided to dedicate time to learning was "Pyramid Song" by Radiohead, as it's my absolute favorite song of theirs.
Nothing really ever came of that until late September, when I pitched the idea of performing the song live to my friend Jack (of The Vibrotones renown). He was totally on board with it, but time constraints kept both of us from meeting up to do it. Plus, I'd need to find a violin player or two and a drummer to complement Jack's bass and my piano and vocals.
However, come early November, my good friend/roommate Jake (formerly of Prime Meridian) starts to help me map out the logistics, including his masterful violin skills, for the upcoming December open mic. My friend and ultra-talented drummer Nate was completely psyched to join in, and so the four of us rehearsed in the week leading up to the show.
The result was a phenomenal experience that I'm very fortunate to have been a part of. Being able to execute this song with not only other musicians, but extremely talented musician friends, was truly wonderful and something I'll remember as long as I live.
